Who am I?
I am a UCKP registered Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist in Advanced Training and a member of UKATA and EATA. Before training in psychotherapy, I worked in the film and theatre industry for over 20 years as an acting coach, director and editor. Alongside over 500 hours of experience with psychotherapy clients in my private practice, I volunteered for 3 years as a therapist for elop, an LGBTQ+ mental health charity based in East London.
I am a gay man, a parent, and I live and travel between London and Shropshire with my whippet.
What is my approach?
I am a Transactional Analysis therapist. I work relationally, which means I’m not silent; we talk together.
Transactional Analysis (TA) helps us figure out how to relate to each other and why we behave the way we do. It breaks things down into simple terms — no jargon — helping us spot patterns in our relationships and choices. Using this approach helps build self-awareness and communication skills, making it easier to have healthier relationships and make wiser decisions. Ultimately, leading to better emotional well-being. Plus, TA focuses on working together and empowering people, which is great for anyone looking to create positive change in their lives.
Intersectionality
I am deeply committed to anti-oppressive practice in my psychotherapy work, and this is an ongoing part of my learning and life experience.
I train at one of the leading psychotherapy training institutions in the UK that centres their training through the intersectional lens. I have experience working with oppressed and minority clients such as BAME, Neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
I hope to offer allyship in all of these areas, and to create a safe, inclusive space in which we can navigate any differences that may arise in or impact our relationship, and a space in which all elements of our intersectional identities are welcome.
